Tenure track faculty positions at the University of Rochester

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Rochester (www.bme.rochester.edu) invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions. One position is to be filled at the Assistant Professor level; the other is open to candidates at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. Tenure upon initial appointment for qualified senior level candidates will be considered, contingent on favorable review of the candidate’s dossier by the department, the dean and the Provost.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated significant research accomplishments commensurate with the rank for which they are applying. The successful candidate will be expected to develop and maintain an independent, extramurally funded research program and to participate in departmental educational programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, candidates are sought who share the department’s commitment to fostering an inclusive climate for a diverse community of faculty, staff, and students.

We welcome applications from all areas of biomedical engineering, particularly those that complement or enhance existing departmental strengths in 

biomechanics/mechanobiology  cell and tissue engineering / regenerative medicine  biomaterials biomedical optics and photonicsbiomedical imaging neuro-engineering biomedical nanotechnology  microdevices and biosensors  biomedical ultrasound 

One of six departments of the Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Biomedical Engineering is also part of the School of Medicine and Dentistry. The Robert B. Goergen Hall for Biomedical Engineering and Optics is a short walk from the University of Rochester Medical Center – host to an array of outstanding research centers, including the Del Monte Institute for Neuroscience, the Wilmot Cancer Center, and the Center for Musculoskeletal Research. The department enjoys additional strong collaborations with the Rochester Center for Biomedical Ultrasound, the Center for Visual Science, and the world-renowned Institute of Optics. Extensive cross-disciplinary interactions foster an exceptionally rich environment for clinical and translational research and basic science collaboration.
